born August 2, 1976

Erik ruined his hobby when he decided to study percussion at the conservatory of Tromsø (Erik isn't sure what the official, long name of the school is) During his percussion studies he also studied at The Academy of Music, Aalborg and composition with Jørgen Mortensen (VMK - Academy of Music and Music Communication, Esbjerg).

During the period 2000-2007 Erik worked as a freelance percussionist, composer and teacher. Gradually his 'composer-part' became more important. In 2007 he decided to move to The Hague, The Netherlands to study composition at The Royal Conservatory, where he got his Master's Degree in 2009. Erik studied with Yannis Kyriakides, Martijn Padding and Gilius van Bergeijk.

Erik has managed to compose around 50 works, including instrumental and electronic music for different ensembles, film and theatre. As a composer he is interested in organic forms in music besides searching for alternative ways to integrate electronic instruments. Through relational aesthetics, he challenges the somewhat conservative concert form.

Erik is also the co-founder of 'KontAk festival', the international composer's collective 'lüdkamer' and ‘D€N HAAG A££ $TAR$ €N$€MB£€’.

Erik has now a new hobby.
